Objective: To study the effect of acupuncture and moxibustion on immune functions of colon cancer patients with liver metastasis.
Method: 60 patients diagnosed with colon cancer, liver metastasis by pathology and imageology were treated by acupuncture and moxibustion therapy. Acupuncture points: Zusanli, Sanyinjiao, Neiguan, Shangjuxu, Hegu, Taixi, Taichong, Yinlingquan, Yanglingquan. Moxibustion points: Shenque, Guanyuan, Qihai, Zusanli. Before and after treatments, the number of CD3, CD4, CD8, T lympoleukocyte, and NK cells were tested by flow cytometry.
Results: After treatment, the number of CD3, CD4, CD8 of T lympholeukocyte Subgroup and NK cells raised significantly compared to before treatments.
Conclusion: Acupuncture and moxibustion can improve the immune function of colon cancer patients with liver metastasis.
